As part of the Emergency Department, The Chest Pain Center specializes in the urgent treatment of heart attacks and is able to utilize new drugs known as “clot busters” to help improve an individual's chance of survival.

Protocols for evaluating and treating patients who arrive at the Emergency Department with chest pain have been established and reviewed by Board Certified Emergency Room Physicians and by Specialists in Cardiology.
Using these protocols, your Emergency Physician can identify and treat heart attacks as quickly as possible in order to minimize damage to the heart muscles. Using drugs known as “clot busters” or Thrombolytics, the physician is able to dissolve the blood clot in the heart blood vessel that is precipitating the heart attack. Newton Medical Center meets or exceeds the national standards for this type of drug therapy.
